What: The Meg

Where to watch: Max, Prime Video

When to watch: Now!

Meg 2: The Trench is swimming into theaters next week, which means entirely one thing — it's time to watch The Meg

While The Meg's premise is simple, and you can totally watch the new sequel without seeing the first film, why would you rid yourself of the blissful occasion of watching Jason Statham beat up a giant shark not once, but twice? So if you're ready to dive deep into the darkest corners of the ocean and meet Meg the friendly Megalodon, here's everything you need to know.

How can I watch The Meg?

The Meg is now available to stream on Max and Prime Video

What's The Meg about?

Loosely based on Steve Alten's novel, Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, The Meg follows rescue diver, Jonas Taylor (Statham), as he tries to save a crew trapped in a deep-sea submersible at the bottom of the Pacific. Why is the crew trapped you might ask? Well, because a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark, long thought to be extinct, attacked their ship on sight.

Yup, the Megalodon is alive and well in this elevated version of Jaws. And it's up to some guy to try and stop it.

The Meg also stars Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, Li Bingbing, and Cliff Curtis.

When is The Meg's sequel being released?

Meg 2: The Trench releases in theaters on August 4. The sequel sees the return of Statham as Taylor who's up against another megalodon (plus some other terrifying sea nightmares).
