Tesla's refreshed Model Y launched in China and Australia (among other countries in the Asia-Pacific region) last week. Now, it seems it'll soon launch in Europe, too.

Several sources claim that Tesla has already built the first new Model Y at its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany. According to German media outlet Handelsblatt, the company was scheduled to start producing the new car, also known by its codename "Juniper", on Tuesday.

This was confirmed by Electrek, which claims that Tesla itself confirmed that the production of the new Model Y has started in Berlin, though the outlet did not provide any link, quote, or source to prove it. On X, Tesla YouTuber EFIEBER said that the first new Model Y rolled off the production line at Gigafactory Berlin; a commenter, possibly a Tesla employee, added that the first Model Y has indeed been built, and that it will be signed by 12,000 employees.

If true, this is notable as it indicates that Tesla could start selling the Model Y in Europe pretty soon.

There's no official word (that we can find) from Tesla or its CEO Elon Musk about any of this, so take the reports with a grain of salt.

Historically, a European launch ahead of the U.S. launch wouldn't be a surprise. When the company launched the refreshed "Highland" Model 3 in late 2023, it became available in Europe months before Tesla started selling it in the U.S.

As of this writing, however, all of Tesla's European sites still list the "old" Tesla Model Y, while the Juniper version is nowhere to be seen.

The new, "Juniper" Tesla Model Y brings number of improvements and upgrades, both on the exterior and in the interior of the vehicle. For a detailed overview, go here.
